Neu efallai bod cysylltiad y sylw a'r tywydd yn ymddangosiadol wan iawn: tylluan wen yn hela am dri o'r gloch y prynhawn ar ddyddiad arbennig o Chwefror; clywed y gog yn canu ddiwedd mis Mawrth; teilo cae at datws ddechrau’r gwanwyn. Tywydd....? efallai! Ffenoleg...? yn bendant.

Mae'r Tywyddiadur yn rhyngweithiol - hynny yw, mi allwch rhoi gwybodaeth i fewn iddo, neu chael gwybodaeth allan. CHWILIO: Chi biau’r dewis: mis neu gyfnod arbennig efallai, blwyddyn, gair (neu ddau air), neu ddiwrnod penodol (treiwch ddyddiad eich pen-blwydd). Cewch wneud cyfuniad o rhain.

MEWNBYNNU: Trwy fewnbynnu cewch ychwanegu at y gronfa a chreu adnodd mwy cynhwysfawr fyth i ymchwilwyr fel chi. Dim ond tri amod sydd ar eich cofnod: ei fod yn cynnwys rhyw fath o ddyddiad, lleoliad (bras neu fanwl), a bod y cofnod rhywfodd yn gysylltiedig â’r amgylchedd.

Easter Sunday March 10th It was a wretchedly cold day. Patterson went and after the Minor had taken him to the station, we walked down to the Llwyn fields to look for animals for the aquarium.

Thursday March 11th A repetition of yesterday as regards weather, except the wind was stronger. We breakfasted at 8 o`clock: and determined to start over to Talyllyn, to shoot duck: and we took our rods with us. I walked over to Minfordd [sic], and we reached the Lake soon after 10 o`clock: and found a tremendous sea on: and a flock of pochards, widgeon [sic] and wild duck on the Lake. We pulled the boat up to the head of the Lake with Jock: as we never could have got it up otherwise: we tried for snipe in the ditches and shot one seeing two others: which however we did not shoot at. I did just put up my rod and tried for a trout at the head of the Lake, but it was little use. Although I rose one fish. The Duck were very wild, and the Minor alone killed one, which we had great difficulty in retrieving. We went in to lunch at Tyn y gornel, as we were very wet. We started from the Lake about 5 o`clock, and I walked home from the bottom of the pass., the Minor driving the phaeton home.... Talyllyn: Pochard 1 Snipe 1

March 12th Friday A bitterly cold day. We had breakfast at 9.30:.... I drove down to Llanelltyd to fish for Kelts on the Mawddach below the bridge. We picked up Hugh Jones, the keeper in Dolgelley, and he showed is the most likely places: but the wind was so cold it was not much use fishing, so we gave up about 1.30; and drove home, and I just walked around the Big Covert; and then came in and read.

Saturday March 13th The Minor and I went over to Talyllyn again today, but owing to the cold wind it was very little good fishing, and nearly all the duck went from the lake after we had had a shot at them. I walked over; and also back again: and we started homewards soon after we had lunch at Tyn-y-gornel. The lake was a bit clearer today, and that was the only encouragement for the whole day.

Monday March 15th.... Wynne and I breakfasted at 8 o`clock, and started up to Llyn Cynwych [sic]; owing to a change in the wind it was much warmer, but when I reached the lake there was not an atom of breeze; and I was forced to leave the lake at 12.30: and went down to the river Wnion. to Bontnewydd: and fished up a good way. The trout rose pretty well for about a couple of hours; but the river was very clear. Wynne also had some sport. We dined at 7.30 and went to bed early. Trout ME 33 WE 24 = 57 (Wnion)

Tuesday March 16th A fine morning. Wynne and I started over to Talyllyn; expecting to have a good day and so sanguine were we, when we reached the Lake that he sent for our clothes, and determined to stay the night at Tyn y cornel. A light breeze sprang up, and kept up all day, but it seemed to get colder towards the middle of the day, and slight rain came on about 3 o`clock. We tried both from the shore and the boat, but the trout were little inclined to take. I did not get a fish all day. We dined at 7 o`clock and being very tired, went to bed early. Wednesday March 17th The bitterly cold wind blew all day, and it was cloudy. I got up at seven and fished an hour before breakfast, and tried off the road shore catching two nice trout. After breakfast we did not attempt to have the boat out as it was so rough: but fished from the shore. Wynne had to leave about 11 o`clock, in order to get home in time for his Tutor - Morris. I fished hard all day till 4 o`clock, trying all round the Lake from the shore: had I not been unlucky in losing 3 fish, I should not have done so badly. I walked home and got in at six o`clock. Thursday March 18th A frosty morning, and it was a bright day: the wind having got back into it old quarter NE. After breakfast [9.30] I began fishing on the river, but finding the trout not rising at all, I walked up to Llyn Cynwych [sic]. There was no breeze on the lake when I got there, but towards the afternoon a good breeze sprang up: and I saw several fishing rising [sic], but I only rose one myself, which I hooked and lost. I gave up fishing before 5 o`clock, as it became very cold, and I came in and did some reading before dinner. WE (Wnion) Trout 40

Friday March 19th It was much warmer today, and slight rain fell this morning. Wind NW. Wynne and I started over to Talyllyn with John Davies the new keeper: and I walked over there. We expected to catch fish, but the breeze seemed to be blowing everywhere on the lake: and it was dreadful work fishing, and sometimes there was no wind at all. Besides the trout were not rising at all; so we gave up in despair about 3 o`clock, and came home: and I walked most of the way. I was able to do a couple of hours reading before dinner. Saturday March 20th It froze hard last night, and was a beautiful day. I read for an hour or so before breakfast, and also went down to the pheasantry to see the three pheasants which arrived from Deudraeth last night. After breakfast I went out to fish on the river and began at the ford and fished up to Bont Newydd, but the river was so bright and clear, it was very little use and I gave up at 2.30 and walked home and at 3 went out for a ride with Nelly, riding Gill. We rode into Dolgelley and had a gallop on the green, and then went to Bont Newydd and home by the Brithdir road. I then walked about the place with mother, and we came in about 6.30: it being very cold towards evening. Trout (Wnion) 15

Monday March 22nd Wind NW and the weather decidedly milder. Wynne and I determined to go over to Llyn Crogennan [sic]; so we started about 9 o`clock: and walked to the lake from Dolgelley Wynne following in the phaeton; the road being most horribly bad. There was no breeze on the lake when we got there, but it soon sprang up: and we thought we should have a good day as we saw a few trout rising. The water was intensely cold, which made it very cold wading, we fished till 3 o`clock; and I alone had risen three fish, and that was when I began off the island; so we determined to start home, and I walked to Llyn Gwernyn [sic Gwernan]; and seeing a nice breeze on the lake I took my rod and tried it for an hour or so without success. I then walked home, and did some reading before dinner

Tuesday March 23rd A dull and mild day though sunny in the morning. I started out fishing this morning up the Torrent, and went as far up as Caerynwch: without doing any good, only catching seven small trout, the river being too low. I came back to the house at one; got my lunch, and then began fishing the river just below the house: there was a great rise on the trout, and I had great sport: and fished upstream to Bontnewydd: and then came home at 6.30. The Squire returned home from town today. Wynne had equally good sport on the river, viz. 70 trout. ME (Wnion) 83 = 153 Trout.

Wednesday March 24th It was milder this morning and I determined to go over to Talyllyn: so I started about 9 o`clock, John Davis taking the phaeton up Brithdir road and I walked most of the way there. Before starting I went down to Kinsey`s cottage to see an Otter which he had trapped. I expected to have a good day`s fishing as the Lake was in good order, and there was a nice breeze blowing, but unfortunately it became very strong and cold later on in the day, and my sport was bad all day, but few fishing [sic] taking. I fished from the shore most of the day and found it very cold wading. I started home about 5 o`clock: and walked from the bottom of the Pass. Talyllyn. Trout 6

Thursday March 25th It was very windy from the W today. Wynne and I went up by the 8.40 train which dropped us at the top of the incline, and we then walked up to weLlyn Llymry: John Davies was with us: as we had waders &c to carry. We could not raise a fish in the Lake; and it was very cold up there, and the wind boisterous. We stayed at the lake till about 1.30: and then went down to the stream which was too clear and low to do any good there; and and we went down to Llanuwchllyn Station: and met the Minor and Patterson. adjutant of the 19th regiment, who had come from Chester for a few days leave. The Squire met us at Bontnewydd with the Drag, and drove us home. It began to rain this evening.

Friday March 26th Patterson, the Minor, Wynne and I had breakfast at 8 o`clock: and started in the phaeton to fish above the falls of the Mawddach. It was a mild day with misty and drizzling rain falling, and really a good fishing day. The rivers had risen considerably especially the Caine [Afon Gain] and the Eden: and Wynne and I went up to the former while Patterson, and the Minor went up the Mawddach. Wynne and I fished with worm: and I alone caught 5 trout, much out of condition, we joined the others about 2.30: and had lunch. They had caught very few: and the water was not dirty enough for worm or clear enough for fly; and it was not until past 4 o`clock, that it cleared enough for fly: Wynne and I having gone some way up: it was nearly six before I gave up fishing; and we had a long walk to Tyn y groes: and we got home about 8 o`clock. Saturday March 27th A windy day. Wind NW and cold. We started over to Talyllyn about 9 o`clock: and Patterson and I walked on: while the Minor took the phaeton round Brithdir. As we expected the lake was tremendously rough, and we could do very little fishing: however we stuck to it all day: and we had 6 small trout, 5 of which I caught. It was quite absurd to expect trout to rise on such a cold and inclement day. After tea at Tyn y cornel we started home at 5.30: and got in at seven. Trout (Talyllyn) 6 very small.

The Minor and I started away at 7 o`clock to fish above the Falls of the Mawddach, and we had a bit of breakfast at Tyn y groes, and reached our fishing ground at 9.30: the Minor beginning just above the Falls, while I went half way up. We had to work very hard for the fish we caught and we fished right up to where the two rivers join, and started homewards at 5 o`clock. We took an hour and forty minutes to walk to Tyn y groes; therefore we did not get home till 8 o`clock. Osmond Williams and G Williams had driven over from Deudraeth today..... Trout (Mawddach) 47.
