Y Tywyddiadur

Prif nodwedd y gronfa hon yw'r dyddiad, mis neu'r flwyddyn penodol sydd yn sail i'ch cofnod. Mae'r tywydd wrth gwrs yn rhywbeth sydd yn digwydd "rwan", pryd bynnag yw neu oedd "rwan" i'r cofnodwr gwreiddiol; y bore yma efallai, diwrnod arbennig yn eich plentyndod, neu sylw mewn dyddiadur dwy ganrif yn ôl yn sir Feirionnydd.... efallai. Neu efallai bod cysylltiad y sylw a'r tywydd yn ymddangosiadol wan iawn: tylluan wen yn hela am dri o'r gloch y prynhawn ar ddyddiad arbennig o Chwefror; clywed y gog yn canu ddiwedd mis Mawrth; teilo cae at datws ddechrau’r gwanwyn. Tywydd....? efallai! Ffenoleg...? yn bendant.

Mae'r Tywyddiadur yn rhyngweithiol - hynny yw, mi allwch rhoi gwybodaeth i fewn iddo, neu chael gwybodaeth allan. Y cam cyntaf y byddwch yn cymryd wrth fentro ar y dudalen hon felly fydd dewis pa un rydych am ei wneud.... Chwilio ynteu Mewnbynnu (blychod chwilio ar y chwith mewn glas, blychod mewnbynnu ar y dde mewn coch).

(Ewch i’r gwaelod am ganllawiau cychwynnol).

CHWILIO: Chi biau’r dewis: mis neu gyfnod arbennig efallai, blwyddyn, gair (neu ddau air), neu ddiwrnod penodol (treiwch ddyddiad eich pen-blwydd). Cewch wneud cyfuniad o rhain.

MEWNBYNNU: Trwy fewnbynnu cewch ychwanegu at y gronfa a chreu adnodd mwy cynhwysfawr fyth i ymchwilwyr fel chi. Dim ond tri amod sydd ar eich cofnod: ei fod yn cynnwys rhyw fath o ddyddiad, lleoliad (bras neu fanwl), a bod y cofnod rhywfodd yn gysylltiedig â’r amgylchedd.

…..after some lunch I walked up the river above the Viaduct, and commenced fishing. It was a similar day to yesterday, misty and warm: and the river was somewhat higher. I fished up to Bont Rhiadyr and then tried to fish up one of the little streams which join the Wnion, but owing to the trees &c [etc] I did not persevere but walked home…..Trout (Wnion) 40

A fine and hot day. I read all morning; and then went up to Llyn Cynwych [Cynwch] , but owing to there being no wind I had no sport, but the trout were rising to the “Natural”, and especially in the middle of the Lake. I only killed one trout: and then came in to read….. Trout (Llyn Cynwych [Cynwch] ) 1.

I read from 8.30 to 12.30 when I went up to Llyn Cynwych [Cynwch] : the day was hot and bright in the in the morning, but clouded over, and when I reached the Lake it seemed just right for fishing. But the trout did not rise well, and about 5 o’clock my fishing was brought to an end by a dense mist with a strong wind. I lost one good fish and killed a fine trout of nearly a lb. I walked from the Lake to Bontnewydd by Llanfacreth [Llanfachreth] to catch the 6 o’clock train as Mother, Mrs Seabrooke, and the Minor arrived. We dined at 7.30 and I did a little reading before going to bed at 12 o’clock. Trout (Llyn Cynwych [Cynwch] 5. (1) 1lb.

It was pouring hard this morning, so the Minor and I determined to go up to Llanuwchlyn by the 8.40 train and fish the Llin [Lliw?] which we accordingly did and great sport we had. Unfortunately during the afternoon it turned exceedingly cold; and this stopped the fish biting. Besides which the river was much too high to fish some of the best Pools; and the water never really got into good order for a fly. Although the Minor caught a few fish with it in the afternoon. We returned by the 5 o’clock train. Trout (River Llin [Lliw?], Llanuwchlyn) 99 wght [sic] 23lb. 12 largest fish = 5 ¼ lb. nearly all the fish were caught with worm.

Snow fell yesterday evening, and the ground was white this morning, and we had several very heavy showers of snow all day…. About one o’clock I started over to join the Minor who was fishing at Llyn Crogennau. I walked there in about an hour and a quarter. It was intensely cold and the wonder was how we managed to catch fish: for they seemed inclined to rise: and the Minor and I took several turns in the boat: and had the wind not been so squally we might have caught more. Soon after 5 o’clock we returned home. I walked and the Minor rode. Trout (Llyn Crogennau) 25.

A very cold day with heavy showers of snow, The Minor and I went over to Talyllyn today and a very cold day’s fishing we had, nevertheless we managed to pick up a basket of trout. We worked the boat together in the morning; but it was hard to manage, as the wind was blowing everywhere. In the afternoon I fished from the shore. While Domville went with the Minor in the boat. I caught six nice trout from the shore, and rose several others. We did not start back till late, and got in about 7.30. the Squire arrived from Town today. Trout (Talyllyn) 18.

It was a most beautiful day. and much warmer, though rather too bright a sun for fishing. English Harrison, Kingcombe, the Minor and I went by the 8.50 train to Arthog: and then walked up to fish Llyn Crogennau, and the Ladies came up by road with our lunch later on. and we had a picnic. The Minor and I fished hard all day: there was a great rise on the trout to the natural, but they would not look much at our flies. We fished till ten minutes to six when we walked back to Dolgelley [sic] where Jack and the phaeton met us and we got home in time to dress for 8 o’clock dinner. The fish we caught, were caught in both Lakes, I catching several off the shore of the smaller lake. Trout (Llyn Crogennau) 34. Red spinner. March Brown.

We were to have had a picnic at Talyllyn today, but the weather looked so threatening that the idea was given up so the Minor and I went off by the 8.40 train to fish the Lliw [?] The Minor went down to Bala Lake, but I began fishing the river just below the bridge: and I hooked a large trout which after I had played for a short time got off, I caught two or three nice trout, and then the Minor joined me fro the Lake as there was a dead calm. We fished up the river. and I went a long way up, but the fish would not rise at all, and after lunch we went to Bala Lake but could do no good. We returned to Llanwchllyn and reached home by seven o’clock. Trout (Lliw and Bala Lake) 16.

Wynne and I started by the 8.20 train to Arthog to fish Llyn Crogennau: stupidly when we got to Penmaen Pool Wynne remembered that he had forgot the key, so he had to go back to Dolserau for it. I walked up to Crogennau from Arthog, and got there before ten. A strong westerly wind was blowing, and it was almost too strong to do any good: and I had very little sport before Wynne joined me soon after 12 o’clock; and we picked up some nice trout from the boat. We returned by the 5.45 train, and got back before seven. The Squire arrived this evening from Town. At dinner this evening I received a telegram from Adderley with the bad news that my name was not on the Class List: a poor reward for so much reading! Trout Llyn Crogennau 36.

a windy and showery day. Wynne started off to fish the Wnion. I went up to Llyn Cynwych [Cynwch] this morning but had little sport there owing to the strong wind, but I lost a good fish. After I had my lunch I started down to the Afon Wen (the white stream) which joins the Mawddach, and I fished this stream up a long way with fly; and also using the maggot on my fly, which is a great tip. The river was very low, and the wind, when I got out of the wood, boisterous. I gave up fishing about 5.30. and walked home, calling at Nannau and leaving my trout there, Wynne had great sport on the Wnion. our bags were = C.M.E. Llyn Cynwych [Cynwch] 3. Afon Wen 51. W.E... A fine and bright day. Wynne and I made an early start to fish above the Falls of the Mawddach. We drove to Tyn-y-groes, and then walked up above the Falls. The river was in tolerably good order: we fished upstream with maggot, and joined at lunchtime, and later we went right above the wood, and fished to where the streams separate: we consequently had a longish walk back to Tyn-y-groes. Trout M.E. & W.E Mawddach 68.

Peter having sent word that there was fresh water in the Dee Wynne and I started to Llanderfel by the 8.40: however, on our arrival the river was very low: and there was a strong wind and bright sun. I walked up to the T??uel above Palé . and tried some of the best pools there, but it was almost impossible to fish owing to the strong wind. I joined Wynne at Crogeu [Crogew?] by lunch time, and he fished for Eels during the afternoon: while I kept on at the trout, but had no sport….. Dee (Llanderfel) Trout. 4. Eels 10.

I started off after nine to fish the Cader Lakes, and had rather a hot walk up to Llyn Arran. I found the wind very straight on the Lake. And the trout did not rise well, and my sport was brought to a close by a thunderstorm; and I left the mountain about 1.30. a fine drizzling rain fell the rest of the day. I fished the Clywedoc [Clywedog] a little way down, but it was too low. I also tried the Wnion. Wynne did not fish today. Trout. Llyn Arran. 13. Clywedoc [sic] and Wnion. 11.
