Y Tywyddiadur

Prif nodwedd y gronfa hon yw'r dyddiad, mis neu'r flwyddyn penodol sydd yn sail i'ch cofnod. Mae'r tywydd wrth gwrs yn rhywbeth sydd yn digwydd "rwan", pryd bynnag yw neu oedd "rwan" i'r cofnodwr gwreiddiol; y bore yma efallai, diwrnod arbennig yn eich plentyndod, neu sylw mewn dyddiadur dwy ganrif yn ôl yn sir Feirionnydd.... efallai. Neu efallai bod cysylltiad y sylw a'r tywydd yn ymddangosiadol wan iawn: tylluan wen yn hela am dri o'r gloch y prynhawn ar ddyddiad arbennig o Chwefror; clywed y gog yn canu ddiwedd mis Mawrth; teilo cae at datws ddechrau’r gwanwyn. Tywydd....? efallai! Ffenoleg...? yn bendant.

Mae'r Tywyddiadur yn rhyngweithiol - hynny yw, mi allwch rhoi gwybodaeth i fewn iddo, neu chael gwybodaeth allan. Y cam cyntaf y byddwch yn cymryd wrth fentro ar y dudalen hon felly fydd dewis pa un rydych am ei wneud.... Chwilio ynteu Mewnbynnu (blychod chwilio ar y chwith mewn glas, blychod mewnbynnu ar y dde mewn coch).

(Ewch i’r gwaelod am ganllawiau cychwynnol).

CHWILIO: Chi biau’r dewis: mis neu gyfnod arbennig efallai, blwyddyn, gair (neu ddau air), neu ddiwrnod penodol (treiwch ddyddiad eich pen-blwydd). Cewch wneud cyfuniad o rhain.

MEWNBYNNU: Trwy fewnbynnu cewch ychwanegu at y gronfa a chreu adnodd mwy cynhwysfawr fyth i ymchwilwyr fel chi. Dim ond tri amod sydd ar eich cofnod: ei fod yn cynnwys rhyw fath o ddyddiad, lleoliad (bras neu fanwl), a bod y cofnod rhywfodd yn gysylltiedig â’r amgylchedd.

It was a pouring wet morning with most dismal prospects, and therefore it kept us indoors; but about 10 o’clock it cleared up, and as a heron had been seen by the bridge, I went out to see it. I could not get a shot at it; but it was right in the middle of a field, but I shot a Curlew, as it flew round over my head; the [?] also killed a hawk. After lunch the [?] and I went up to [Perith?] Llywdion and round by Brithdir after partridges, but, although we saw nothing to shoot at, we had a good walk. Grace and Bob went away today to London. A very fine day, with a gentle breeze from the S W owing to the stopping up of one of the drains of Dolserau; the Whole family had to emigrate to Barmouth, as the smell was rather intolerable. They drove over in the drag during the day. The [minor?] and I had breakfast at 8 o’clock and saw Wynn of Rhug off. We then started to shoot at Blaenau, and put up at the bottom of the hill. We soon fell in with a covey of 7 partridges, but they were very wild; and it was some time before we killed. But I knocked one over which was a runner, and we were unable to find it, but we sent a boy to Dolserau for Nelson, and he found it for us afterwards. We had lunch at Cefn Braich; but found no partridges up there, but had the luck to fall in with a splendid Cock, which I killed. We then descended and shot through part of the Nannau ground; but saw nothing except a Woodcock which the [minor?] shot. We gave up shooting at 4 o’clock... We had intended to go by sail to [Bodtalog?] and shoot there, but when I locked out of my window at 6:45; it was blowing and raining so hard, we determined not to go. A beautiful day. We had breakfast at 10 o’clock and at 11. Went to church; Mr [Truman?] reading the service. We had a walk on the sands before lunch, and in the afternoon we all started for a walk up the hill behind Barmouth; Mamma had soon to turn back on account of the rough walking, but the [ellis’?] Robertson’s and Nelly scrambled on and had a capital walk; we then went on Barmouth bridge till dark. Dinner was at 7:30, but we were all too tired to set up and see the new year in.

We started over to Talyllyn this morning at 8.15;reached Talyllyn at 9.45 ten minutes before the minor. We were soon out fishing; having one boat: there was a splendid Westerly breeze blowing all day; but the mist was very heavy on the hills which is always a bad sign. Few flies were on the water, and the trout never really rose all day. We fish it with very fancy-dressed flies; and killed on five different post; and net two or three nice fish. The minor caught one 3/4 lb ,and we killed a dozen between us. Trout Tal y Llyn 12.

Breakfast at 7.30 and straight on the lake; a steady nor westerly breeze was blowing; but the fish rose very badly and we had but very little sport throughout the day. When we began fishing again I stuck into a very nice fish in the Bay on the Mackerel Fly; and we killed two or three more. But soon after 5 o`clock it became a dead calm and there was a cloudless sky, so we had to give up fishing, as not a fish was moving, and we paddled about the lake and looked for nests. The fish would not rise to any ?? fly but a fly dressed with Black hackle buzz and body ribbed with silver tinsel killed best. [Black Pennel oeddem ni yn galw hon]

On the lake 8.30; rowed to the top of the lake, but when we got there the breeze dropped altogether, and a dead calm came on; more over the sun was very hot and bright ,and I almost gave up all hopes of fishing. But about 9.30 a fresh N. Westerly breeze sprung up; which continued very strong and squally al through out the day. By one o clock we had not seen but few fish, but the Minor had caught 4 fish; one a splendid fish 1lb 3/4; which gave us a great sport. I also killed one only fish on the same side of the lake at the head weighed nearly 1lb.; both fish were caught on the Soldier Palmer. [Y bluen yma yn dal I gael ei defnyddio heddiw]

At 7.40 started on our way to fish a lake on Arran we had heard of. A beautiful morning; mist slowly rising. Isaw the hills, as we drove in the paleton{?} to a farm house just above Drws-y-nant Station: from there on we started on the walk over Arran, little thinking what a distance we had to go. Luckily we chartered a dog at the farm, as without him we should have never found the lake. We had a hard walk right over Arran and three miles over in a deep gorge {Llyn Llymry Las} [sydd yn ysgrifenedig ond enw`r llyn ar map os yw Llyn Lliwbran sydd uwchlaw Llanuwchllyn a Foel Fenigl maev Llyn bychan iawn arall yng ngodre Aran Bellyn di-enw ond yn ol beth oedd wedi ei ddisgrifio nid hwn oedd y llyn enwedig] about 8 miles from Drws-y-nant. On our way up I went to the top of Arran, standing on the cearn. We reached {Llyn Lymry} [Llyn Lliwbran] about 11.15 and were not long in catching some beautiful yellow trout some of then weighing 3/4lb each. and one nearly 1lb. At 4.30 when we started homeward. Lloyd had caught ten, an I six splendid trout: the wind was blowing in a whirlpool on the lake. Flies used Soldier Palmer, Grouse Hackle, B.body, Silver tinsel and several fancy dressed flies.

A very fine day. but a nasty N. Westerly wind blowing which made it very cold on the mountains. At 7.30 we started fishing Llyn Crogennau, taking John Ellis and the phaeton with us. The fish were rising very fairly when we first got there, and we had a nice basketful of trout by lunch time 1 o`clock. Afterwards it was hardly worth while fishing , as the wind blew to strong and it turned bitterly cold. The trout we caught were very small, some remarkably so, and all under 1/2 lb. John Ellis got up a ravens nest on the Garth rocks, and took eggs; also two carrion crows nest to. Trout 34. Flies , Harlequin, Black and brown S. Palmer.

There was a decided change in the weather today, the wind going to the north, and heavy showers of rain falling, and snow on the mountains. We walked up to Llyn Cynwych [ Llyn Cynwch ar map] at 8 o`clock; and did not expect to catch anything, as the wind was bitterly cold and squally . 6 o`clock started to some lakes on the mountains over Barmouth; driving in the phaeton to the "Half Way House" on the Barmouth road; Then we had a four mile walk up the mountain by the old Turnpike road, and reached the first lake Hydfryn about 8.30. The wind was due East, and bitterly cold. This lake was very hard to fish as the bottom was so rocky and slippery . We fished till 12.o`clock, and Minor had killed 3 trout the largest a lb. all but two ounces. Then walked to Llyn Bodlyn about a mile off. Here it was dreadfully cold with heavy snow showers. I fished all the afternoon but only caught two small ones; the Minor not fished much; but climed up some rocks with John Ellis after ravens nest; which however had no eggs in it. Trout 6.

The weather was much milder today, as the wind was S.E. and as it was a fine morning we expected good sport up at Llyn Cynwych. As the river was in good order the Minor stayed and fished it for short time, but caught nothing.
