Y Tywyddiadur

Prif nodwedd y gronfa hon yw'r dyddiad, mis neu'r flwyddyn penodol sydd yn sail i'ch cofnod. Mae'r tywydd wrth gwrs yn rhywbeth sydd yn digwydd "rwan", pryd bynnag yw neu oedd "rwan" i'r cofnodwr gwreiddiol; y bore yma efallai, diwrnod arbennig yn eich plentyndod, neu sylw mewn dyddiadur dwy ganrif yn ôl yn sir Feirionnydd.... efallai. Neu efallai bod cysylltiad y sylw a'r tywydd yn ymddangosiadol wan iawn: tylluan wen yn hela am dri o'r gloch y prynhawn ar ddyddiad arbennig o Chwefror; clywed y gog yn canu ddiwedd mis Mawrth; teilo cae at datws ddechrau’r gwanwyn. Tywydd....? efallai! Ffenoleg...? yn bendant.

Mae'r Tywyddiadur yn rhyngweithiol - hynny yw, mi allwch rhoi gwybodaeth i fewn iddo, neu chael gwybodaeth allan. Y cam cyntaf y byddwch yn cymryd wrth fentro ar y dudalen hon felly fydd dewis pa un rydych am ei wneud.... Chwilio ynteu Mewnbynnu (blychod chwilio ar y chwith mewn glas, blychod mewnbynnu ar y dde mewn coch).

(Ewch i’r gwaelod am ganllawiau cychwynnol).

CHWILIO: Chi biau’r dewis: mis neu gyfnod arbennig efallai, blwyddyn, gair (neu ddau air), neu ddiwrnod penodol (treiwch ddyddiad eich pen-blwydd). Cewch wneud cyfuniad o rhain.

MEWNBYNNU: Trwy fewnbynnu cewch ychwanegu at y gronfa a chreu adnodd mwy cynhwysfawr fyth i ymchwilwyr fel chi. Dim ond tri amod sydd ar eich cofnod: ei fod yn cynnwys rhyw fath o ddyddiad, lleoliad (bras neu fanwl), a bod y cofnod rhywfodd yn gysylltiedig â’r amgylchedd.

A fine dry day, but it was misty. We made an early start to Talyllyn in the trap and pony, and reached there at 10.45. Found the hotel full, and with difficulty got a boat - and that bad one. Breeze light from the S when we began, but it became strong - too strong after 12 and more westerly. A few nice fish were rising, but owing to the slaty blue colour of the water, principally near the shore. We fished mostly at the head of the lake, and got some nice fish, but we should have done much better had the wind not been so strong. the Squire drove the waggonette and four over, and we had a picnic in the usual place. We fished until six, and did much better than any of the boats out. Reached Home in time for 8 o`clock tea dinner. There was a dense mist this evening, prognostication fine weather. The Alder and Olive duck [?] were the best flies, but I killed on the Red Spinner. Talyllyn Trout 16 (1) 12oz. (1) 11oz.

After the rain of yesterday I anticipated the river in ood order... walked over the hill to Gethigemlyn (sic. Gelligemlyn) , but found the river rather low. I began with small flies, and fished up until I met Kinsey opposite Bryncemlyn fishing down. I had only had one small sewin, and had another, and risen a third. I walked up to the junction but found someone else fishing there, so i went up to the old miner`s Bridge Pool , had my lunch, and then went down again. I began at the Nailings [Railings?] , but found it too low, and went latterly to Penrhos Pool, at the head of which in the rough water I hooked a splendid fish which gave me grand sport. I had very fine tackle, so it wanted all my skill to play the fish, and unfortunately I had no gaff with me. But I killed the fish in about 20 minutes and, at the second attempt "tailed" him. Weight 14 1/2 lbs, and the fly was a small sea trout fly. with teal and mixed wing, and black and brown body ribbed with silver thread. I took the fish up to to Tyn-y-groes and Williams took it down to Llaneltydd Bridge, where I met the Coach returning at six o`clock. I fished down, but only rose a small sewin. The weather was very unsettled this afternoon, the wind being very strong from the N. with slight rain showers. I met the Coach at Llaneltydd Bridge.

A fine day - though it became unsettled towards evening, and rained hard during the night. I went up to Pwllgelli this morning. Rice[?} Price having sent the boat up there for me. the pool was very weedy and clear, however. by fishing with two flies carefully, I picked up ten trout, but only had one decent fish of 3/4lb. Latterly I went down to the river, and fished up to Bont Rhiadyr, but only caught 22 small trout, and did not see so much as a sewin. I walked home. Pwllgelli: Trout 10 (1) 3/4 lb. Wnion Trout 22.

After 8.45 breakfast, I walked over to the Mawddach to find it in low ply[?], and a very dark colour. I began at Gethigemlyn [sic. Gelligemlyn]. and higher up met several other rods, so i walked up to Dolgoed, where I moved[?] a sewin, the only fish I rose all day. I then went up to Glen-yr-Afon. and latterly up to the Falls, but to no purpose. Nelly drove the dog cart over and met me at Tyn-y-groes - I left Home this evening for Shrewsbury for the Assizes, and went to the Lion Hotel.

A lovely day. I went to bathe at the Big Pool at 7.45. and after the Coach had started with most of the party to Barmouth, I went out to fish though I could hardly expect to do much on such a bright day....I tried Pwllgelli first but only got one small trout...up to Llyn Cynwch...about one o`clock. I fished for Perch with live minnow... I only captured two. The wind shifted this evening from the N.W. to S.W. - and it looked unsettled. Pwllgelli. Trout 1. Llyn Cynwch Perch 2

I breakfasted at 8, and walked over the hill to the Mawddach to find it in low ply. I went to Gethigemlyn, and of course I found it in first rate order. I had only made two casts, when I rose a fine salmon on a small double hooked orange fly. i thought I had touched the fish, but I waited and he came again and was fast. The fish played hard, but the hook could not have been firm as he broke away after about half an hours play, and when hewas right on the other side of the river. I was very disappointed in losing this fish as he was not much under 15lb. I fished up to Tyn-y-groes, and latterly went up to the Falls, but did not move a fish up there. I went down to Gethigemlyn again before starting home, and I killed a nice sewin in the river above the Pool. walked home across the hill. A fine day, though close and unsettled in the morning. Wynne went to the Benglog stream, and had a fair day with the small trout. C.E.M.E. Maeddach . Sea Trout 2. W.G. Benglog Stream Trout 56.

A lovely day. Went to bathe this morning, and after breakfast went on the "Rocket" Coach to Barmouth, and had a very pleasant drive.... We returned in time for the Fancy Faire and Bazaare which began today at Dolserau. I superintended and looked after the Aunt Sally, which turned out a very popular amusement. The Bazaar was a great success. We danced this evening after dinner.

Bathed this morning. Went by coach to Barmouth. as mentioned in yesterday`s report, only went to Dolgelley yesterday. Today was fine in the morning, but it clouded over towards evening, when a drizzling rain came on. The Bazaar opened today at one o`clock, and closed at 8.30. The Fund realized was £213, and was for the purpose of repairing the roof and organ of St Mary`s Church. Dolgelley. We danced again this evening after supper...

I bathed this morning, and after breakfast walked up to Cae Coch to beat the moor with Roc [dog] as I was anxious to see what grouse were on it. I beat it close, and only saw nine grouse - one lot of four. Lunched at Drws-y-nant and walked homeward, and as soon as I got home I went to try the river for Sewin, with small flies, as there was a little fresh water in it this morning, but I did not see one. ...

I started over the hill to the river and found it in good order, but I did no good all day. I soon went up to the Falls, and rose a fine fish in the 2nd Pool below falls, he would come only once. A party picnicing [sic] (a Bank-holiday one no doubt) spoilt Tyddynn-y-gla[f/s?]s pool for me by washing their plates, knives and forks there, and throwing stones. I killed two small sewin in the White Stone Pool, where I began, and these were the only fish I got all day. I went right up to the Falls but did not stir a salmon. Walked home. It poured with rain early this morning. and blew great guns. I did not go over to the Mawddach I am sorry to say, as I no doubt would have had a good day, but Wynne and I stuck to the Wnion, and did very little good, as the river got too high. Of course we had to fish with worm all day, and went right up to Bont Rhi[d?]elyn. We only got four Sewin, and about 20 brown trout. Wynne caught 3 sewin, and I one, but they were al small. The rain ceased about 3 o`clock, but some heavy showers came down occasionally. the wind was very high all day, in fact it was a very stormy day. Wnion. Sea trout 4. Brown Trout 20.

..Wynne and I had a car at seven o`clock and started to the river driving to Bont Aber Ede?. Wynne tried the tail end of Cornelius`s pool, which was in excellent order, and rose a grilse [one year old salmon] three times here, but did not hook the fish. We met another nice fish in the 1st Long Pool in the Wood. I did not meet a fish all day, and we went right up to the Falls. We were home by 5 o`clock, as this evening we went to the Robertson`s Ball at Bala by special train. The Ball was given on the coming of age of Harry Robertson and we had great fun, being a very cheery party [details of party]... we were not home until half past four in the morning. Sixteen rabbits were killed ferreting.
