About 6 p.m. Rumbles of distant thunder issue in a terrific storm. 6.45 First vivid lightning flash: lightning and thunder pretty incessant till 9 55 with such teaming rain as a never remember to have been surpassed if indeed equalled. Give the first lesson on nature study at St Martins - for the Autumn Term.... watch the Star- lights from the direction of the Morffa 9p.m. - Rifle firing from the same direction at the time. Return home on the prom The waves at the Pavilion end of the Bay and opposite the boats are brilliantly phosphorescent, less so - indeed hardly noticeable at this end- the cause being the increased size of the wave towards the Great Orme. Throwing pebbles in the sea results in luminous splashes

Baro 29.37 - 29.53 Very Red sunrise followed by a fine day.....Found in Plas Estyn back garden. Cluster of (slugs?) eggs found in an empty flower-pot outside. The eggs were 25 in number in an adherent cluster. Oval in form quite transparent like crystal jewels. I believe these are the eggs of the large black slag. Compare with snails eggs june 9th page 49 [dyluniad]
