Y Tywyddiadur

Prif nodwedd y gronfa hon yw'r dyddiad, mis neu'r flwyddyn penodol sydd yn sail i'ch cofnod. Mae'r tywydd wrth gwrs yn rhywbeth sydd yn digwydd "rwan", pryd bynnag yw neu oedd "rwan" i'r cofnodwr gwreiddiol; y bore yma efallai, diwrnod arbennig yn eich plentyndod, neu sylw mewn dyddiadur dwy ganrif yn ôl yn sir Feirionnydd.... efallai. Neu efallai bod cysylltiad y sylw a'r tywydd yn ymddangosiadol wan iawn: tylluan wen yn hela am dri o'r gloch y prynhawn ar ddyddiad arbennig o Chwefror; clywed y gog yn canu ddiwedd mis Mawrth; teilo cae at datws ddechrau’r gwanwyn. Tywydd....? efallai! Ffenoleg...? yn bendant.

Mae'r Tywyddiadur yn rhyngweithiol - hynny yw, mi allwch rhoi gwybodaeth i fewn iddo, neu chael gwybodaeth allan. Y cam cyntaf y byddwch yn cymryd wrth fentro ar y dudalen hon felly fydd dewis pa un rydych am ei wneud.... Chwilio ynteu Mewnbynnu (blychod chwilio ar y chwith mewn glas, blychod mewnbynnu ar y dde mewn coch).

(Ewch i’r gwaelod am ganllawiau cychwynnol).

CHWILIO: Chi biau’r dewis: mis neu gyfnod arbennig efallai, blwyddyn, gair (neu ddau air), neu ddiwrnod penodol (treiwch ddyddiad eich pen-blwydd). Cewch wneud cyfuniad o rhain.

MEWNBYNNU: Trwy fewnbynnu cewch ychwanegu at y gronfa a chreu adnodd mwy cynhwysfawr fyth i ymchwilwyr fel chi. Dim ond tri amod sydd ar eich cofnod: ei fod yn cynnwys rhyw fath o ddyddiad, lleoliad (bras neu fanwl), a bod y cofnod rhywfodd yn gysylltiedig â’r amgylchedd.

A drizzling rain during the early morning. Cleears to a dull cloudy day. 6 a.m. Nelly & I go down for our dip through drizzling cold rain in spite of which a skylark pours forth his melody rising above Thomas`s field opposite. The sea is very rough as we content ourselves by sitting in the surf at the edge [and ......] about. The Clio boys arrive and march to their camping ground in Bod afon field.

Due to the night rain - it sounded torrential about midnight, has done considerable damage to garden vegetation and yesterday`s rough sea has damaged all the motor boats with the exception of one (Parry`s which was safe on the prom). From the papers very severe thunderstorms have occurred in different parts of the country (as might have been expected owing to the excessive heat) loss of life (human and of cattle) has resulted and the outbreak of fires and heavy floods & general damage of property by the lightning & heavy rains

Cloudy with slight showers. Generally cooler. We found the water particularly cool when bathing. Find a Marchantia (new to me) on the gravel square at the back of the house. It bears upon its flat irregularly bordered frond, delicate little cups containing the reproductive gemmules. It is much less than M. polymorpha which covers considerable surface with one frond, the largest from the largest specimen I found, and they were numerous, being not more than 2 inches by 1 inch. Letter from Jack who says:- "Nearly everyone about here has begun harvest"... The papers contain reports of damage from thunder storms and 1 death this....." [The writer clearly understands the identity of the species of liverwort, as the cup-shaped gemma receptacles are a key feature of the species. Marchantia polymorpha is currently recognised as consisting of three sub-species in Britain. There is a difference in maximum size, but the easiest distinction between them is the presence or not of a black midrib on the thallus. Subs. montivagans has no black midrib, and in subs. polymorpha, it is thick and conspicuous. These are both normally found in natural, wet habitats. Subsp. ruderalis, has an irregular, interupted black midrib, and is the one normally found in gardens, greenhouses and other man-made or disturbed habitats. Prior to the 1990s montivagans was considered to be a separate species, M. alpestris. His dimensions for the plant in the garden match the maximum size for ruderalis, but he doesn’t give localities or habitats for the plants which he has previously recognised. The other two are very scarce in North Wales and are generally larger, but all three can vary in size according to environmental factors such as light, moisture, etc.. Thus without details of the appearance of the midrib, a reliable determination of the subspecies is unlikely. Malcolm Watling, Blaenau Ffestiniog]

Rain during the night or very early morning.Glass rising slightly and clears to a fine day with westerly (WNW] wind. Bathing find the water still very [tanlinellwyd] cold. 8 a.m. Walking on the promenade see a large flock of gulls opposite the Hydro. I notice the Black Headed gulls have come back from their breeding grounds and with their black heads..... Meet RW Jones on the prom in the evening. He tells me that some years ago he heard the Cuckoo so late as June 30th. Asks me to keep a note when last heard - is very interested to hear. I saw the Great Northern Diver in the Bay last March 26th.

Commences with a cloudy sky heavy mist on the Great Orme. Walk right into it. on my way to Glain Orme (8 a.m.). When I get as far as Gloddaeth Crescent (thin & damping rain). Clears after dinner. Going for our bathe (6:15 a.m.). Notice mowing [...] at work in the field opposite. The tide is on the sands [,] & water & weather rather chilly.
